As a term derived from Latin, the word “university” means “community of teachers and scholars.” Each university is indeed a unique community with its own culture, traditions, and history. These following universities are not only big in size but well-known for their own reason. 

 

1. University of California Irvine

Did you know? "Ocean’s Eleven" and "Planet of the Apes" were filmed on campus (Neuroscience and Social Science buildings, respectively).

Money magazine has ranked UC Irvine as the No. 1 university for beach lovers. Are you one of them?

Given the fact that the university is always expanding and improving, students sometimes refer to UCI as “Under Construction Indefinitely”, lol.

2. Rochester Institute of Technology 

RIT owned a live Bengal Tiger in the 1960s.

The RIT Ambulance was initiated by and is run by RIT students.

3. University of Cincinnati

UC is the largest employer in the Cincinnati region, with an economic impact of more than $3 billion!

In 1906, the University of Cincinnati created the first cooperative education program in the world.

Astronaut Neil Armstrong, first man to walk on the moon, taught aerospace engineering at UC from 1971-80.

4. North Carolina State University

Can you believe the University has had five official names since being founded in 1887?

For years, every student at NC State was required to take part in military training.
